Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve? Do you travel to other areas?

We are currently based in Texas, Chicagoland, Arizona, Ohio, and New Mexico. We work with clients virtually as well and travel to our clients all over the U.S. (or they travel to us). Please email hello@readytowhere.com for more information regarding in-person, online, or out-of-town services.

What’s the typical process?

Check out how it works here. Prior to your appointment, you’ll fill out a new client profile form. We always start with a closet edit (offered in-person or virtually). Next, you may decide to proceed with a strategic shopping session (we offer in-store shopping, online shopping suggestions, or even in-home try-on sessions). Want to get the full use of your wardrobe? Book an outfit styling appointment.

What are your rates?

Please email hello@readytowhere.com for pricing information.

How much time should I schedule?

Every client’s wardrobe is different. Let us know ahead of time either how much time you’d like to spend or what you’d like to accomplish (your stylist can then advise you on timing). You may end up needing less time than originally scheduled; you may also prefer to keep going if both of your schedules allow.

I’m nervous! I’ve never done this before!

Keep an open mind — this is supposed to be helpful, cathartic, and fun! We’re professionals and experts in apparel and style — we’re not interested in judging you, your body, or your clothing. We’re interested in making getting dressed easier and helping you feel more confident so you can fully enjoy and focus on every occasion for which you’re getting dressed.

Do I have to do a closet edit?

A closet edit is a key component of our process. It is important that your stylist gets to know you, your existing wardrobe, and how things fit you. A more abbreviated closet review service is available for clients who want to ‘start from scratch’ and build an entirely new wardrobe.

What items will be part of the closet edit?

We prioritize apparel, shoes, and accessories. We are happy to review other categories, such as undergarments or loungewear, at your request.

How do you decide what should stay and what should go?

We don’t make decisions based simply on what we like. We use our backgrounds and decades in the industry along with factors like fit, lifestyle, goals, quality, quantity, and versatility to determine how to approach each individual item.

What should I do with the items I no longer want? What can I consign?

During your closet edit, let your stylist know if you want help deciding what should be donated or consigned. We can make suggestions regarding the most appropriate method/store for your items and help facilitate.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

For ‘store-to-door’ in-home appointments, a clean and easy-to-access space is advised. For shopping appointments, wear your favorite, most versatile undergarments. Feel free to bring other underpinnings (camisoles, smoothing garments, etc.) as well.

Will I be changing clothes in front of you?

This is at your discretion. But trust us, we’ve seen it all. We just want to help you — we’re not here to judge you or your body. Changing clothes in front of your stylist will help streamline the process, so consider wearing a camisole/undershirt and full coverage underwear if it makes you feel more comfortable.

How do I pay for my service?

We do require a paid deposit and a valid form of payment on file prior to your first service. You will receive your invoices via email.

How much should I plan to spend for new clothing?

This is solely up to you. We build wardrobes that are meant to last, so we may recommend investing in certain pieces. We work with a variety of budgets and shop at certain stores based on clients’ needs. We’ll never try to ‘sell’ you anything. Your shopping checklist will prioritize key pieces, but not all items need to be purchased at one time, or even in one season.

Will you shop for me?

In our experience, being able to try things on together is the most effective and efficient process. We do shop independently for existing clients and can either have items shipped directly to you or bring them over for a ‘store-to-door’ in-home try-on session. Ask your personal stylist for more information.

Do you have experience working with all demographics?

We’ve worked with men and women, from pre-teens to seventies, with a variety of body types from sizes XXS to XXXL. Our clients work in various occupations, from teachers to CEOs to stay-at-home moms to retired professionals, etc.

Can I make an appointment for a personal stylist to work with more than one person at a time?

Services are booked as individual appointments to allow for the most effective, focused, and personalized experience.

Do you have a portfolio of images from previous or current clients? What’s your aesthetic?

Check out our weekly style updates to see some of our favorite items and looks. We do not share pictures of clients for confidentiality reasons. Each client is consulted based on their own lifestyle, body type, style preferences, etc., not ours. You can find client testimonials here.

How does the gift shopping service work?

If you don’t have time to tackle your gift shopping list (or just have no clue what to give), we can help you by suggesting ideas. We provide gift ideas and shop for a variety of businesses, clients, recipients, and occasions. In fact, many of our clients ask their significant other to contact us for help with gift ideas.

Do you have gift cards?

Yes! Please click here or email hello@readytowhere.com.

How should I organize my closet?

We offer closet organization in certain markets — contact us for more information.
